ESPN Reportedly Trying to Lure Steve Kerr Away From Golden State Warriors
ESPN is making a real push to bring Steve Kerr back to TV, even as the Warriors try to keep him on the sideline.
Marc Stein reports that network executives have been actively reaching out to Kerr in recent weeks. They want him back in the broadcast booth, a role he held before moving into coaching.
At the same time, Golden State isn’t letting this drift. Team leadership has already sat down with Kerr for about two hours to talk through what comes next. Nothing was decided in that meeting, but it wasn’t a one-off. Shams Charania says both sides expect to keep talking soon.
Kerr’s contract situation has only added to the uncertainty. After the team’s playoff exit, he made a comment about how every coaching job has a shelf life, which naturally got people wondering if he’s thinking about a change.
For now, it’s still open. ESPN wants him back on air. The Warriors want him back on the bench. Kerr hasn’t tipped his hand either way.
