Kyle Lowry's Raptors farewell is getting a full weekend, not a single-night sendoff.
Toronto announced that Lowry's No. 7 will be raised to the rafters at Scotiabank Arena after the Raptors host the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, Jan. 10. The ceremony will close a three-game celebration for the player long called the GROAT, the Greatest Raptor of All Time.
The weekend starts Jan. 7 against the Minnesota Timberwolves and continues Jan. 8 against the Utah Jazz. Both games tip at 7:30 p.m. ET. Fans at the first game will receive a collectible T-shirt, while the second night includes a limited-edition Kyle Lowry bobblehead, with the team planning extra programming around both games.
Lowry's place in franchise history is not complicated. He spent nine seasons in Toronto, helped deliver the Raptors' first NBA championship in 2019, reached two Eastern Conference Finals and made seven playoff appearances with the team.
He will become the second player in Raptors history to have his jersey retired, joining Vince Carter, whose No. 15 went up on Nov. 2, 2024.
Lowry also left with the franchise records that explain why this ceremony is being treated differently. The six-time All-Star remains Toronto's all-time leader in assists, steals and 3-point field goals made.
Lowry said he had been waiting for this moment for years and repeated what he has said often: Toronto is home. He said seeing No. 7 go up in that building will mean everything to him because of what he built with his teammates, the organization, the city, the fans and Canada.
The final night is built around that connection. Lowry will be joined by his family, former teammates and the Raptors organization as his number goes beside the 2019 championship banner. For a player whose legacy in Toronto was built on longevity as much as one title run, the three-game format fits the career.
