Max Strus still sounds amused, and maybe a little worn out, by the full Jimmy Butler experience.
Speaking about his Heat years on Pardon My Take, Strus described Butler as a teammate whose off-court rhythm could change without warning. One night, Butler could treat him like a best friend. The next morning at practice, Strus said, Butler might barely acknowledge him.
Strus did not frame it as a locker-room problem. He called Butler difficult in a blunt, joking way, then moved to the part that mattered in Miami: once games started, Butler could flip back into the teammate everyone wanted beside them.
That is why the quote lands. Butler's Heat run was built on the same contradiction. He could be demanding, abrasive and unpredictable, but Miami also reached the 2023 NBA Finals with Butler as its emotional center and late-game engine.
Strus was part of that ride before leaving for Cleveland. His comments add another small piece to the Butler file: not a scandal, just a reminder that playing with him meant living with the edge as well as the payoff.
