Victor Wembanyama is still two flagrant points away from a suspension. The NBA won't add one for his shove on Jalen Brunson.
The moment came early in the Spurs' 115-111 Game 3 win at Madison Square Garden. Brunson and Wembanyama got caught up during a possession, then Wembanyama pushed the Knicks guard near the back of his head. There was no whistle.
NBA officiating executive Monty McCutchen later said the referees missed a foul. The league took another look Tuesday, but it did not turn that missed call into a retroactive Flagrant 1. Wembanyama will not be disciplined.
His two existing penalty points came from a Flagrant 2 against Naz Reid in the Western Conference semifinals. Wembanyama caught the Timberwolves forward in the head with an elbow on that play.
In the playoffs, going over three flagrant points means an automatic one-game suspension. An upgrade against Brunson would have left Wembanyama on three, one more point from sitting out.
Instead, his total remains at two. He'll be available for Game 4 as San Antonio tries to erase New York's 2-1 lead in the Finals.
