SGA Officially Joins Nike Basketball Signature Family

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander game action for a story about his move into Nike Basketball's signature family
Summary

Nike confirmed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has joined its Basketball signature family after his run with Converse and the Shai 001.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is officially being moved into Nike's main basketball signature group.

Nike confirmed Tuesday that the Oklahoma City Thunder star has been added as a Signature Swoosh athlete, according to Bleacher Report. The move followed an Instagram video in which Gilgeous-Alexander teased a shift from Converse.

Nike's statement framed it as a promotion inside its own ecosystem. The company owns Converse, where Gilgeous-Alexander had been signed since 2020. He agreed to a new Converse endorsement deal in 2024 and became creative director of Converse basketball before the Shai 001 was unveiled in February 2025.

Now the SGA brand is being pulled under the larger Nike Basketball umbrella. Nike said the move comes after back-to-back MVP seasons and that it wants to build on his creative impact with Converse.

The basketball case is direct. Gilgeous-Alexander won MVP in 2024-25, helped lead Oklahoma City to a championship, and received his second straight MVP award last season. In 2025-26, he averaged 31.1 points, 6.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals while shooting 55.3 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from three.
