Thunder defense closes doors in 106-98 playoff win over Suns
Oklahoma City didn’t do anything fancy in the 106–98 win. It just handled the dull, easy-to-ignore parts better.
They defended without handing Phoenix free points, actually closed out possessions, and didn’t burn trips once things tightened up. That doesn’t grab attention, but it’s usually what decides games like this.
Phoenix had a few clean stretches, but they never lasted. Once Oklahoma City took away the first option, the Suns spent too much of the night hunting for something late in the clock.
The Thunder were not spectacular on offense. They were just steady. Good spacing, patient possessions, no panic when Phoenix threatened to make a run.
That was the difference. In an eight-point game, Oklahoma City looked sharper in the possessions that usually get forgotten until they decide the result.
Thunder 106, Suns 98. Not flashy. Just cleaner when it mattered.
