Kevon Looney

Looney is an American center who spent the first ten seasons of his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors, winning three championships and establishing himself as a reliable rotation big man. He signed with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2025 after a decorated tenure in Golden State.

Born Kevon Grant Looney on February 6, 1996, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he attended Alexander Hamilton High School. As a sophomore, he averaged 20.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists and was named Milwaukee City Conference Player of the Year. As a junior, he averaged 26.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, 7.0 blocks, and 3.1 assists. As a senior, he averaged 27.9 points, 12.7 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 8.0 blocks, nearly producing a quadruple-double. He was named a McDonald's All-American and Parade All-American.

At UCLA, Looney averaged 11.6 points and 9.2 rebounds as a freshman, leading all freshmen in the nation in double-doubles with 15. He was named second-team All-Pac-12 and to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. He declared for the 2015 NBA draft.

The Golden State Warriors selected Looney with the 30th overall pick. As a rookie, he underwent surgery on both hips and missed most of the playoffs during the Warriors' 2017 championship run. He became a regular rotation player in 2017-18 and won championships in 2017, 2018, and 2022. After ten seasons, he signed with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2025.

Looney is a versatile big man with rebounding instincts, finishing ability around the rim, and defensive versatility. He scores on lobs, putbacks, and short rolls, and he uses his size to set screens and protect the paint.
