About Isaiah Joe

Joe is an American guard who entered the NBA as the 49th overall pick in the 2020 draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He spent two seasons in Philadelphia before a waiver in October 2022 led him to sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he has developed into a perimeter-shooting rotation player. A two-year Arkansas product, he left college as a decorated three-point shooter with SEC recognition.

Born on July 2, 1999, Joe grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and attended Northside High School with Jaylin Williams, now his teammate with the Thunder. As a junior, he averaged 18.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.2 steals and led the Grizzlies to an Arkansas Activities Association 7A state championship, earning first-team All-State honors. As a senior, he averaged 22.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.9 steals and was named the Gatorade Arkansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year and USA Today State Player of the Year as Northside reached the state title game.

Joe committed to Arkansas over Alabama and Arkansas-Little Rock. As a freshman, he averaged 13.9 points and 1.7 assists over 34 games and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. He made 113 three-pointers on 273 attempts (41.4%), breaking the Arkansas freshman record previously held by Scotty Thurman and tying the SEC freshman record. He also led the conference in three-point percentage. On December 1, 2018, he scored 34 points on 10-of-13 three-point shooting against FIU and was named SEC Player of the Week.

Entering his sophomore season, Joe was named preseason All-SEC and to the Jerry West Award watchlist. CBS Sports ranked him 80th among collegiate players and ESPN placed him 33rd among 2020 draft prospects. He scored 34 points in a comeback win over Ole Miss on January 12, 2020, including 26 in the second half. He underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on February 4, 2020, after an MRI revealed inflammation. He averaged 16.9 points and 4.1 rebounds as a sophomore before declaring for the 2020 draft. He initially withdrew on August 1 but reversed course and left Arkansas for good on August 17.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Joe with the 49th pick and signed him on December 3, 2020. He made his NBA debut on December 27, scoring two points in seven minutes against Cleveland. As a rookie, he averaged 3.7 points in 41 appearances. In 2021–22, he averaged 3.6 points in 55 games before the 76ers waived him on October 13, 2022. He signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 16, 2022, and has settled into a shooting-guard role off the bench.

Joe is a perimeter-oriented guard whose primary NBA value lies in three-point shooting and off-ball movement. At Arkansas, he demonstrated elite catch-and-shoot efficiency and range, leading the SEC in three-point percentage as a freshman. In the NBA, he has functioned as a floor-spacing bench guard who can stretch defenses in short bursts.

Joe has established himself as a rotation shooter for the Thunder, contributing as a depth guard who provides floor spacing. He remains under contract in Oklahoma City, where he reunited with his former Northside High School teammate Jaylin Williams.
