Alex Morales

Morales is a Puerto Rican guard on a two-way contract with the Orlando Magic and their G League affiliate, the Osceola Magic. His path to the NBA wound through junior college, the Northeast Conference, and international basketball in Puerto Rico before he secured a two-way deal in 2026. He has earned multiple conference Player of the Year awards and has represented Puerto Rican club basketball abroad.

Born on November 21, 1997, Morales played high school basketball at Manchester Regional High School in Haledon, New Jersey, where he was a three-time All-State selection and led the team to a state sectional title. He was suspended for his senior season after an alleged altercation at school. He enrolled at Prince George's Community College and averaged 13.8 points and 9.9 rebounds as a freshman, earning NJCAA Division III Honorable Mention All-American and Second Team All-Maryland JUCO honors. He led Prince George's to its first Maryland JUCO Tournament title since 1981 and was named tournament MVP. He sat out the following season with a redshirt, then returned as a sophomore to average 19.8 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, earning Second Team NJCAA Division III All-American and Maryland JUCO Player of the Year.

Morales transferred to Wagner College for his junior season. He averaged 13.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists as a junior, then raised those numbers to 16.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists as a senior while earning Northeast Conference Player of the Year honors. He declared for the 2021 NBA draft in April 2021 but maintained his eligibility and returned for an additional season. In his extra year, he repeated as NEC Player of the Year and added NEC Defensive Player of the Year. Despite the decorated college résumé, he went undrafted in 2022.

After going undrafted, Morales attended the Orlando Magic training camp but did not make the final roster. On November 3, 2022, he joined the Lakeland Magic. In March 2023, he signed with Osos de Manatí in the Puerto Rican league. He returned to the Magic organization on a short-term deal in September 2023, was waived two days later, and then joined the Osceola Magic on November 2. After the G League season, he went back to Osos de Manatí. He signed with Orlando again in October 2024, was waived three days later, and returned to Osceola on October 27. On February 17, 2026, the Magic signed him to a two-way contract.

Morales is a versatile guard with size, rebounding instincts, and defensive versatility. His college statistics reflect a player who contributed across multiple categories—scoring, rebounding, and playmaking—at both the JUCO and Division I levels. At Wagner, his Defensive Player of the Year award highlighted his ability to guard multiple positions and generate steals. Offensively, he attacks the rim, finishes through contact, and makes reads in transition. His rebounding rate for a guard stands out as a product of anticipation and physicality.

Morales enters the 2025–26 season as a two-way contract player for the Orlando Magic after years of shuttling between the G League, Puerto Rico, and training camp rosters. His résumé includes two NEC Player of the Year awards, a JUCO national tournament MVP, and persistent advancement from undrafted free agency into a guaranteed two-way deal.
