About Kyshawn George
George is a Swiss guard who entered the NBA as a first-round pick in 2024 after a single season at the University of Miami, where he emerged as a starter and a potential draft prospect. He has played for the Washington Wizards, where he has already set franchise records and demonstrated elite shooting ability as a rookie.
Born Kyshawn Shanty Alonzo George on December 12, 2003, in Monthey, Switzerland, he is the son of Deon George, a Canadian professional basketball player. George was part of the team that won the Swiss U16 championship in 2016. He moved to France and played four years with Élan Chalon, progressing from the U18 team to the U21 team and eventually the first team. He averaged 17.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists with the U21 team in 2022-23.
George had a growth spurt from 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 7 inches during high school. He committed to Miami in April 2023 and became a starter midway through his freshman season due to injuries. He declared for the 2024 NBA draft and received a green room invite.
The New York Knicks selected George with the 24th overall pick and traded him to the Washington Wizards. He signed on July 6, 2024. On March 13, 2025, he made his 100th three-pointer in his 59th game, the fastest a Wizards rookie has hit that milestone, surpassing Bradley Beal. He also holds the franchise record for most consecutive games with a made three-pointer by a rookie with 31. He averaged 8.7 points as a rookie and 14.8 points in his second season. On March 4, 2026, he was diagnosed with a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow and missed the remainder of the season.
George is a versatile wing with a smooth shooting stroke, deep range, and defensive versatility. He scores on catch-and-shoot threes, off-the-dribble pull-ups, and timely cuts to the basket. His rapid growth spurt and shooting development have made him one of the most intriguing international prospects in the league.
George enters each season as a young wing with the Washington Wizards, carrying the expectations of a first-round pick and multiple franchise records. His trajectory from a Swiss youth league to a French professional, a Miami freshman, and an NBA draft pick reflects shooting excellence and a commitment to expanding his game at every level.
