Nicolas Batum

Batum is a French forward who has built a lengthy NBA career as a versatile wing with defensive intelligence, three-point shooting, and playmaking ability. Drafted in the first round in 2008, he has played for Portland, Charlotte, and the Los Angeles Clippers while also representing France in multiple Olympics, winning silver in 2020 and 2024.

Born Nicolas Madelin Victor Andre Batum on December 14, 1988, in Lisieux, France, he is the son of a French mother and a Cameroonian father, Richard, who was a professional basketball player in France. Richard died during a game in 1991 after suffering an aneurysm when Nicolas was two and a half years old. Batum grew up in France and developed into one of the most talented young players in Europe.
