About Julius Randle

Randle is an American forward who has established himself as one of the most productive big men in the NBA since being drafted seventh overall in 2014. He has played for the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, and Minnesota Timberwolves, earning multiple All-Star selections, All-NBA honors, and a Most Improved Player award.

Born Julius Deion Randle on November 29, 1994, in Dallas, Texas, he attended Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano. As a senior, he averaged 32.5 points and 22.5 rebounds per game and led the program to its third state title in four years. He was considered a five-star recruit and the No. 1 power forward in the nation by Rivals.com. He committed to Kentucky over Texas, Kansas, and Florida.

At Kentucky, Randle was named a third-team All-American and helped the Wildcats reach the 2014 national championship game. He recorded 24 double-doubles, the most by a UK freshman, and averaged 15.0 points and 10.4 rebounds. He declared for the 2014 NBA draft, and the Lakers selected him with the seventh overall pick.

Randle broke his right leg in his NBA debut and missed his entire rookie season. He returned in 2015 and spent four seasons with the Lakers before signing with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2018. After one season in New Orleans, he joined the New York Knicks and won the Most Improved Player award in 2021. He was named a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection. He was later traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Randle is a physical, score-first forward with a strong interior game, a developing three-point stroke, and playmaking vision. He scores on post-ups, face-up jumpers, and drives to the basket, and he uses his size to rebound at a high rate and draw fouls. His offensive versatility and rebounding productivity have made him a franchise centerpiece at multiple stops.

Randle enters each season as a veteran All-Star with multiple franchise tenures and a Most Improved Player trophy on his resume. His trajectory from a Texas high school powerhouse to a Kentucky standout, a lottery pick, and a multi-time All-Star reflects physical development, offensive expansion, and a commitment to dominating in the paint at the highest level.
