Ben Simmons is talking like basketball is back on the table.
In a Men's Health interview, Simmons said he plans to build his body back up and make another NBA push. "I plan on getting as strong as I can physically, getting my ass on the court, and then the team realizing that my abilities will be needed," Simmons said.
He did not frame it as a locked-in destination plan. But he did name two familiar Eastern Conference options.
"Maybe I'll go back to Philly," Simmons said. "Miami would be nice. And not because it's Miami - I like Erik Spoelstra, I like the Heat, I like their organization, I like the culture."
The quote lands because Simmons' NBA story has been stuck between injuries, confidence questions and the fallout from his Philadelphia exit. He is 29, an unrestricted free agent, and said coaches have told him to get healthy because a spot can exist if his body is right.
The basketball case is still narrow. Simmons pointed to the size and feel that once made him an All-Star: "You can't teach 6'10" and IQ." For Miami or Philadelphia, the question is whether that version can still show up in a smaller, cleaner role.
