Josh Richardson is done playing professionally.
The 32-year-old guard announced his retirement on Instagram on July 29, closing a career that began when Miami selected him with the No. 40 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Richardson spent six of his 10 NBA seasons with the Heat and also played for the 76ers, Mavericks, Celtics, Spurs and Pelicans.
His best stretch came in Miami, where he grew from second-round find into a real two-way starter. In 2018-19, Richardson averaged a career-best 16.6 points and 4.1 assists, then became part of the sign-and-trade package that brought Jimmy Butler to the Heat.
Richardson's later years moved quickly. He had stops in Dallas, Boston, San Antonio and New Orleans, returned to Miami, and was waived by Utah after the 2025 five-team Butler trade. He also briefly played for Basket Zaragoza in Spain during 2026.
Not a superstar career. A sturdy one, though. Richardson lasted, defended, adapted, and carved out a decade from the 40th pick.
