Josh Hart Fires Back After Draymond Green Questions Jalen Brunson's Discount

Josh Hart did not let Draymond Green's Jalen Brunson take sit untouched.

Green, speaking on Club 520 with Jeff Teague, argued that Brunson should not have taken a major discount with the Knicks. His point was blunt: New York can afford to pay its star, and Brunson should not have been the one giving money back.

"It's the New York Knicks, bro. They can afford it," Green said. "You ain't got to take no discount for them to get paid."

Green then compared Brunson's situation to his own with the Warriors, saying his role was different because Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were the top names in Golden State. "He the top guy," Green said of Brunson. "Let Josh Hart or somebody else take less. They in my role."

Hart's response was short and sharp: "We got to normalize grown men not counting other peoples pockets."

That line is why the exchange traveled fast. Brunson's contract decision has become part of the Knicks' team-building identity, but Hart framed the debate as something simpler. Players can argue roster logic all day. Hart's message was that another man's money still belongs to him.
