Sandro Mamukelashvili's $2.80 million option no longer matches his market.
The Raptors center is expected to decline it and become an unrestricted free agent, according to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto. There is already belief around the league that Mamukelashvili could land the full non-taxpayer mid-level exception, projected near $15 million for next season, or at least a significant portion of it.
He has the production to support a raise. Mamukelashvili played a career-high 80 games and averaged personal bests of 11.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 21.9 minutes while shooting 52.3 percent from the field. Over the past two seasons, he made 38.3 percent of his 3-pointers.
That market could create a problem for Toronto. The Raptors are near the luxury tax, and keeping the 27-year-old stretch-five may require more room than they want to spend or another roster move to clear space.
