The Suns are adding another center before camp.
Phoenix is signing Duop Reath to a deal, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The move comes with Mark Williams expected to miss several months because of a shoulder injury, leaving the Suns in need of another body in the frontcourt.
Reath is not a star signing, but the fit is easy to read. He gives Phoenix an experienced reserve big who can stretch the floor and compete for minutes behind the team's younger center options. Bright Side of the Sun noted that Reath previously played for Phoenix's 2022 summer league team, so this is not a completely new evaluation for the franchise.
His last NBA stop was Portland. Reath played 146 games for the Trail Blazers from 2023 to 2026, averaging 6.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game, according to Blazers Edge. He also shot 42 percent from three during the 2025-26 season before a foot stress fracture ended his year.
The terms of the new deal were not immediately reported. For Phoenix, the point is depth. Williams' injury changed the center rotation, and Reath gives the Suns another playable option before preseason opens.
