Timofey Mozgov noticed the 2016 Cavaliers reunion from the outside.
The former Cleveland center told Sport Express that he was not contacted about the recent reunion trip for members of the Cavaliers' championship roster. The vacation, hosted by LeBron James, featured several core players from the 2015-16 team, including Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye and Tristan Thompson, with Iman Shumpert and Matthew Dellavedova joining later.
Mozgov said he saw the clips but never received an invite. "Yes, I saw the video of that party. No one wrote or called me. If I'd been invited, I'd have gladly joined. Of course, I'd have loved to be there too, to drink some wine," he said when asked whether anyone had reached out.
The omission stood out because Mozgov was part of that title run, even if his role had shrunk by the end. He appeared in 13 games during the 2016 postseason before Cleveland completed its comeback against Golden State.
It is a small story, but it lands because championship reunions usually sell the idea of a forever group. Mozgov's version is more awkward: he was on the team, saw the party, and says the call never came.
