Warriors Discuss No. 11 Trade-Down And Trey Murphy Concepts

Trey Murphy III during New Orleans Pelicans game action for a Warriors trade rumor story
Summary

HoopsHype reports Golden State has discussed a No. 11 pick swap with Charlotte and concepts involving Trey Murphy III.

The Warriors are weighing two draft-night ways to use the No. 11 pick.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that Golden State has talked with the Charlotte Hornets about a draft-pick swap. The structure would send No. 11 to Charlotte for Nos. 14 and 18, depending on the board.

Charlotte's side is clear. The Hornets have shown a willingness to move up, seemingly to get ahead of Oklahoma City. League executives are wondering which prospect Charlotte may be targeting.

Golden State has another path. Scotto reported that the Warriors are one of several teams interested in Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III, and that the two sides have discussed concepts involving No. 11.

The Pelicans have been looking for a way into the lottery. Nate Ament has been mentioned as one possible target if New Orleans can move up.

Murphy's market is not new. Before the trade deadline, the Warriors, Pistons, Pacers, Hawks, Trail Blazers, Spurs and Lakers all called about him.

That makes the pick a useful pivot point. The Warriors can either turn one lottery selection into two first-rounders, or use No. 11 in a larger swing for a proven wing who fits a win-now roster right now.
