Aaron Holiday

Holiday has established himself as an NBA guard with a background in elite college basketball and a family pedigree in the sport. Drafted 23rd overall by the Indiana Pacers in 2018 out of UCLA, he played three seasons in Indiana before trades sent him to the Washington Wizards and the Phoenix Suns. He has contributed as both a starter and a reserve throughout his professional career.

Born on September 30, 1996, in Ruston, Louisiana, Holiday is the son of Shawn and Toya Holiday, both of whom played college basketball at Arizona State. His mother, Toya, was named Pac-10 Player of the Year during her time with the Sun Devils. Aaron grew up in a household where basketball was central, with two older brothers, Jrue and Justin, both reaching the NBA.

Holiday attended high school in Los Angeles, where he was rated among the top prospects in the nation. He committed to UCLA and played three seasons for the Bruins. As a freshman in 2015–16, he entered the starting lineup before transitioning to the team—s leading reserve during his sophomore campaign. He returned to the starting five as a junior, operating as the Bruins— point guard while earning third-team All-American status and first-team all-conference and all-defensive honors in the Pac-12.

The Indiana Pacers selected Holiday with the 23rd pick in the 2018 NBA draft. He spent his first three seasons in Indiana, logging minutes as a backup guard and occasional starter. Following his Pacers tenure, the team traded him to the Washington Wizards. He later moved to the Phoenix Suns, continuing his career as a depth guard capable of spacing the floor and running offensive sets.

Holiday is a score-first guard with a compact build and a reliable outside shot. He operates comfortably off the dribble and can function as either a primary ball-handler or an off-guard in secondary actions. His defensive tenacity traces back to his collegiate all-defensive honors, and he uses active hands and positioning to disrupt passing lanes despite lacking elite size for the position.
