Jock Landale

Landale is an Australian center who entered the NBA after a winding professional career that included college basketball at Saint Mary's, stints in Serbia, Lithuania, and Australia, and multiple NBA contracts. He has played for the San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks, and other franchises, bringing the pedigree of an NBL championship and Olympic bronze medal.

Born on October 25, 1995, in Melbourne, Australia, Landale gave up basketball early before returning at Geelong Grammar School in Victoria. A growth spurt of nearly a foot between years nine and twelve raised his profile as a prospect and helped him secure a scholarship to Saint Mary's in California.

At Saint Mary's, Landale was a bench player as a freshman before enjoying a breakout junior season, averaging 16.9 points and 9.5 rebounds and leading the Gaels to the 2017 NCAA tournament. As a senior, he averaged 21.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks and was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year.

After going undrafted in 2018, Landale signed with Partizan in Serbia and was named to the ABA League Ideal Starting Five. He then played for Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania and Melbourne United in Australia, where he won the 2021 NBL Grand Final MVP after leading the team to a 3-0 sweep. He signed with the San Antonio Spurs in August 2021 and later joined the Atlanta Hawks. He also won a bronze medal with Australia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Landale is a skilled center with a soft touch around the rim, solid footwork in the post, and a developing outside shot.
