The Warriors are not treating the LeBron James wait as their only offseason lane.
Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported that Golden State is expected to register interest in other free agents while it waits to see how James handles his market. James' own free-agency approach is still unclear, and the Warriors' potential offer would depend on their eventual Kristaps Porzingis deal and Draymond Green's contract decision.
The names around that backup plan are more practical. League sources told Stein and Fischer that Golden State is among the teams expected to pursue veteran big man Jock Landale, along with scoring guards such as Anfernee Simons and Collin Sexton.
That framing matters. The Warriors can still make their pitch if James is willing to consider Northern California, but the report says their spending power is expected to top out around the midlevel range, roughly $15 million. That is a narrow path for a player of James' stature, even with Stephen Curry, Steve Kerr and the Bay Area geography working in Golden State's favor.
Landale would address frontcourt depth. Simons or Sexton would point to a different need: bench scoring when Curry sits, or a second guard who can play beside him and let him work more off the ball.
Kevin Porter Jr. was also mentioned as a player who would have interested Golden State, but he picked up his $5.4 million player option with Milwaukee. So the Warriors' list is already moving before free agency fully opens.
For now, the big swing remains James. The more realistic work may be building a rotation that does not wait for that answer.
