Nickeil Alexander-Walker

Alexander-Walker is a Canadian guard who has developed into a reliable rotation player and defensive contributor across multiple NBA franchises. Drafted in the first round in 2019, he has played for New Orleans, Utah, Minnesota, and Atlanta, earning a reputation as a versatile wing with playmaking ability and defensive versatility.

Born Nickeil Alexander-Walker on September 2, 1998, in Toronto, Ontario, he played at Vaughan Secondary School, St. Louis Christian Academy, and Hamilton Heights Christian Academy. At Hamilton Heights, he was teammates with his cousin, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He was ranked No. 74 in the class of 2017 by Scout.com and committed to Virginia Tech in May 2016.

At Virginia Tech, Alexander-Walker averaged 10.7 points and 3.8 rebounds as a freshman and helped the Hokies reach the NCAA tournament. As a sophomore, he averaged 16.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists and led Virginia Tech to a 24-8 record and a Sweet 16 appearance. On June 20, 2019, he was selected 17th overall by the Brooklyn Nets.

His draft rights were traded to the Atlanta Hawks and then immediately to the New Orleans Pelicans. He made his NBA debut on October 22, 2019. On January 13, 2021, he scored a career-high 37 points against the Los Angeles Clippers. On February 8, 2022, he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers and then to the Utah Jazz. On February 9, 2023, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves alongside Mike Conley Jr. In 2026, he signed with the Atlanta Hawks.
