Killian Hayes

Hayes is a French-American guard who entered the NBA as a lottery pick in 2020 after a decorated European career that included professional stints in France and Germany. He has played for the Detroit Pistons and Sacramento Kings, bringing the pedigree of an international prospect with advanced playmaking skills.

Born Killian Deron Antron Hayes on July 27, 2001, in Lakeland, Florida, he is the son of professional basketball player DeRon Hayes. He grew up in Cholet, France, after his father continued his career in the LNB Pro A. He began playing for Cholet Basket at the youth level and debuted for the senior team at age 16. In 2019-20, he moved to Germany to play for Ulm.

Hayes won the gold medal and was named MVP at the 2017 FIBA U16 European Championship with France. He led the team to a silver medal at the 2018 FIBA Under-17 World Cup. He was considered one of the top international prospects in the 2020 draft class.

The Detroit Pistons selected Hayes with the seventh overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. He has developed as a playmaking guard with defensive instincts and court vision. He later signed with the Sacramento Kings.
