The Hornets have checked the price on Domantas Sabonis.
Charlotte and Sacramento held exploratory trade talks, according to HoopsHype. A loosely discussed framework would send Miles Bridges, Josh Green and a possible first-round pick to the Kings. Nothing is close, and Charlotte has resisted including either the No. 14 or No. 18 selection in the upcoming draft.
The interest fits the Hornets' current direction. They won 44 games last season, improving by a franchise-record 25 victories, and have considered an upgrade at starting center. Bridges is entering the final year of a $22.83 million contract; Green is also expiring at $14.68 million.
Sabonis, 30, has $94.08 million left over two seasons. Injuries limited him to 19 games last year, though his previous three-season averages were 19.2 points, 13.3 rebounds and 7.2 assists. The three-time All-Star remains a major name, but the reported talks are still preliminary.
