Isaiah Livers

Livers is an American forward who entered the NBA as the 42nd overall pick in the 2021 draft by the Detroit Pistons after a four-year career at the University of Michigan. He later signed a two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns. His college tenure included a Big Ten tournament title, an NCAA championship game appearance, and multiple conference honors.

Born on July 28, 1998, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Livers is the son of Angela and Morris Livers. He began playing basketball at age five with his father in the driveway. He attended Kalamazoo Central High School, where he was named 2017 Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year and Mr. Basketball of Michigan. He edged out Xavier Tillman in the closest Mr. Basketball vote in state history, becoming Michigan's 11th recipient and the first since Manny Harris in 2007.

Livers committed to Michigan on August 7, 2016, over Michigan State, Butler, Minnesota, California, and Boston College. He signed his National Letter of Intent as part of a three-scholarship class alongside Jordan Poole and Eli Brooks. As a freshman, he posted a career-best 13 points against Iowa on January 2, 2018, and replaced Duncan Robinson in the starting lineup later that month. The 2017–18 Wolverines won the Big Ten tournament and reached the NCAA championship game, where they lost to Villanova.

In 2018–19, Livers helped Michigan establish a school-record 17–0 start. On February 28, 2019, he posted his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 assists against Nebraska. He scored a career-high 21 points in the Big Ten semifinals against Minnesota on March 14. He led the Big Ten in three-point shooting at 42.6% (52-for-122). As a sophomore, he posted a then career-high 22 points against Creighton on November 12 and a new career-high 24 points against Houston Baptist on November 22.

The Detroit Pistons selected Livers with the 42nd overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. He has since moved to the Phoenix Suns organization on a two-way contract, dividing time between the NBA roster and the Valley Suns of the NBA G League.

Livers is a stretch forward with a reliable outside shot and size to defend multiple positions. At Michigan, he led the Big Ten in three-point percentage as a sophomore and demonstrated the ability to score inside and stretch defenses from beyond the arc. His offensive versatility fits modern NBA frontcourt needs.
