TyTy Washington Jr.

Washington is an American guard who reached the NBA through the 2022 draft after a decorated freshman season at Kentucky. A consensus five-star recruit known for his playmaking, he has navigated multiple trades and two-way contracts across several franchises.

Born Tyrone Lewis Washington Jr. on November 15, 2001, in Phoenix, Arizona, he attended Cesar Chavez High School and averaged 23.2 points, 4.1 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.3 steals as a sophomore. He transferred to AZ Compass Prep for his junior season and averaged 24 points, seven assists, and six rebounds as a senior, leading his team to a 30–2 record. He was named to the Jordan Brand Classic roster.

Washington committed to Creighton on November 15, 2020, but decommitted on March 11, 2021. On May 12, 2021, he committed to Kentucky over Arizona, Baylor, Kansas, LSU, and Oregon. At Kentucky, he averaged 12.5 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.5 rebounds and was named Second Team All-SEC and All-Freshman Team. On January 8, 2022, he recorded 17 points and 17 assists against Georgia, surpassing John Wall's single-game school record for assists. He declared for the 2022 NBA draft on April 6, 2022.

The Memphis Grizzlies selected Washington 29th overall in the 2022 NBA draft and traded him to Minnesota, who then traded him to the Houston Rockets. He made his preseason debut on October 2, 2022. On July 8, 2023, he was traded to Atlanta in a five-team deal, then to Oklahoma City on July 12. He was waived by the Thunder on August 18, 2023.

Washington signed two-way contracts with Milwaukee in August 2023, Phoenix in August 2024, and Los Angeles in December 2025.

Washington functions as a playmaking guard with elite court vision, ball-handling skills, and the ability to create for others.
