JD Davison

Davison is an American guard who entered the NBA as the 53rd overall pick in the 2022 draft by the Boston Celtics. He spent three seasons in Boston, winning an NBA championship in 2024 and earning G League MVP honors in 2025. In 2025, he moved to the Houston Rockets on a two-way contract before converting to a standard two-year deal in April 2026.

Born Jerdarrian Devontae Davison on October 3, 2002, he attended Calhoun High School in Letohatchee, Alabama. As a junior, he averaged 30.4 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists per game, leading the team to a Class 2A state title and hitting a game-winning three-pointer in the championship game. He earned Alabama Mr. Basketball and Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year honors. As a senior, he averaged 32.4 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists and repeated as Alabama Mr. Basketball. He was named to the McDonald's All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic rosters.

Davison was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the top point guards in the 2021 class. On October 3, 2020, he committed to Alabama over Auburn, LSU, Memphis, Michigan, and Kansas, becoming the first five-star recruit during head coach Nate Oats' tenure. As a freshman, he averaged 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. On April 13, 2022, he declared for the NBA draft and forwent his remaining eligibility.

The Boston Celtics selected Davison with the 53rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft. On July 8, 2022, he signed a two-way contract and split time between Boston and the Maine Celtics of the NBA G League. He made his NBA debut on November 11, 2022, in a win over the Denver Nuggets. He signed successive two-way contracts with Boston in July 2023 and July 2024.

Davison won an NBA championship with the Celtics in 2024 when they defeated the Dallas Mavericks in five games. On April 2, 2025, he was named the NBA G League MVP for the 2024–25 season after averaging 25.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 7.5 assists in 30 games for Maine. On April 12, 2025, he was converted to a standard two-year contract with Boston. The Celtics waived him on July 24, 2025. On July 27, 2025, he signed a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets, and on April 7, 2026, he agreed to a two-year standard deal with Houston.

Davison is an athletic point guard with a strong frame, elite leaping ability, and a developing jump shot. At Alabama, he demonstrated playmaking vision and rebounding productivity for a guard. In the G League, he showcased scoring burst and leadership, translating his college strengths into a dynamic offensive profile at the professional level.

Davison signed a standard two-year contract with the Houston Rockets in April 2026, solidifying his place on an NBA roster after multiple two-way seasons in Boston. His G League MVP award and championship experience provide a foundation for his professional development.
