Luke Travers

Travers is an Australian forward who reached the NBA through a developmental route in his home country rather than the American college system. Drafted in the second round in 2022, he spent years refining his game in the Australian NBL and SBL before securing an NBA opportunity with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a two-way contract.

Born on September 3, 2001, in Perth, Western Australia, Travers grew up in the suburb of Rockingham and attended Port Kennedy Primary School and Willetton Senior High School. He played basketball for the Rockingham Flames as a junior and was childhood friends with AFL player Luke Jackson.

Travers made his senior debut for the Rockingham Flames in the State Basketball League in 2017. In 2019, he averaged 11.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists and was named SBL Most Improved Player. On August 1, 2019, he signed with the Perth Wildcats as a development player and later signed a three-year professional extension, forgoing college basketball. He was part of the Wildcats championship-winning squad in March 2020.

The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Travers with the 56th overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft. He joined Melbourne United in 2023 and later signed with the Cavaliers in 2024 on a two-way contract with the Cleveland Charge.
