Noah Clowney

Clowney is an American forward who entered the NBA as a first-round pick in 2023 after a productive freshman season at Alabama. Known for his rebounding, defensive versatility, and developing outside shot, he has shown flashes of potential as a stretch big with the Brooklyn Nets.

Born on July 14, 2004, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Clowney attended Dorman High School. As a junior, he averaged 9.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. As a senior, he averaged 17.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks. He was rated a four-star recruit and committed to Alabama over Virginia Tech, Florida, and Indiana.

At Alabama, Clowney entered as the starting power forward. He took part in the Crimson Tide's European tour before the season, averaging 12.3 points and 7.7 rebounds. He was named SEC Freshman of the Week for the first two weeks of December. He helped Alabama advance to the Sweet 16 of the 2023 NCAA tournament, where they lost to Connecticut. After the season, he declared for the 2023 NBA draft.

The Charlotte Hornets selected Clowney in the first round of the 2023 NBA draft. He signed with the team on July 2 and has since been traded to the Brooklyn Nets. His rookie season showed flashes of three-point shooting and defensive versatility.

Clowney is a modern big with the size to defend multiple positions and the shooting touch to stretch the floor. His game is built on pick-and-pop actions, rebounding, and rim protection.
