Cam Christie

Christie is an American guard on a two-way developmental path with the Los Angeles Clippers after being selected in the second round of the 2024 NBA draft. His rookie season has included assignments to the San Diego Clippers of the G League, reflecting a developmental trajectory designed to refine his game at the professional level. He arrived in the NBA with a decorated family basketball background and a solid freshman season at Minnesota.

Born Cameron Hannaford Christie on July 24, 2005, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, he attended Rolling Meadows High School alongside his brother Max. As a junior, he averaged 22 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Rated a three-star recruit, he committed to Minnesota over offers from Michigan State, USC, Virginia, Missouri, Ohio State, Illinois, Northwestern, and Iowa State. His mother, Katrina Hannaford, played college basketball at Northwestern and scored over 1,000 points before becoming a psychotherapist. His father, Max Sr., played at Parkland College and Wisconsin-Superior and later became a pilot. His older brother Max played at Michigan State and currently plays in the NBA for the Dallas Mavericks.

Christie began his Minnesota career as a key reserve guard. He made his college debut in the second game of the season against UTSA and scored 18 points in a 102-76 win. He made his first career start against Nebraska on December 6, 2023, scoring nine points with three rebounds in a 76-65 win. He was named to the Big Ten Conference All-Freshman team at the end of the regular season. Following the season, he declared for the 2024 NBA draft.

The Los Angeles Clippers selected Christie with the 46th overall pick on June 27, 2024. He signed with the Clippers on July 5 and spent portions of his rookie season assigned to the San Diego Clippers in the G League. His professional role has been developmental, with an emphasis on learning NBA systems, improving his shooting consistency, and adjusting to the speed and physicality of the professional game.

Christie is a scoring guard with a smooth shooting stroke, good size for the position, and the ability to operate off the ball.
