About Jonathan Mogbo

Mogbo is an American forward who entered the NBA as a second-round pick in 2024 after a remarkable rise from junior college to the West Coast Conference and eventually the NBA. He has played for the Toronto Raptors, where he has contributed as a developmental frontcourt piece with playmaking vision and rebounding energy.

Born Jonathan Michael Mogbo on October 29, 2001, in Wellington, Florida, he is the son of a Nigerian father and a Jamaican mother. He played football growing up and did not start organized basketball until the fourth grade. He played AAU basketball alongside future Toronto Raptors teammate Scottie Barnes, who lived with Mogbo's family during their freshman year at Cardinal Newman High School. Mogbo later attended Forest Hill Community High School.

Mogbo had no Division I scholarship offers out of high school and began at Independence Community College. He transferred to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and averaged 14.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks. He then transferred to Missouri State, where he averaged eight points and seven rebounds as a junior. After one season, he entered the transfer portal and moved to San Francisco.

At San Francisco, Mogbo was named the WCC Newcomer of the Year and first-team All-WCC after averaging 14.2 points and a conference-high 10.1 rebounds per game. He declared for the 2024 NBA draft and opted to forgo his remaining eligibility. The Toronto Raptors selected him with the 31st overall pick and signed him on July 4, 2024. During his rookie season, he was assigned to the Raptors 905. On April 9, 2025, he recorded his first career triple-double with 17 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds against Charlotte.

Mogbo is a versatile forward with playmaking vision, rebounding instincts, and defensive energy. He scores on cuts, putbacks, and transition finishes, and he uses his size to set screens and facilitate for others. His offensive game is built on efficiency and positional versatility rather than volume shooting.

Mogbo enters each season as a young forward with the Toronto Raptors, carrying the distinction of a four-stop college career and a first-team All-WCC season. His trajectory from a junior college player without Division I offers to a second-round draft pick and NBA triple-double threat reflects persistence and a willingness to improve at every level.
