Born Darius Brown II on July 28, 1999, he began his college career at Cal State Northridge in 2018. He played four seasons, though his senior year was limited to 8 games by injuries, and he was granted a medical redshirt. After the season, he entered the transfer portal and committed to Montana State under head coach Danny Sprinkle. At Montana State, he earned the starting point guard position and was named Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
