Born Christopher J. Mañon on December 9, 2001, in New Milford, New Jersey, he is of Dominican descent. He attended Saint Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, where he was named first-team all-league, all-county, and all-region as a senior while averaging 12.4 points per game. He then transferred to St. Thomas School for the 2019-20 season and earned second-team All-NEPSAC honors. After high school, he committed to Cornell University in the Ivy League to continue his basketball career.

Mañon spent three seasons at Cornell, though his freshman year in 2020-21 was canceled entirely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a sophomore in 2021-22, he averaged 9.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. He improved as a junior in 2022-23, averaging 11.0 points and 3.6 rebounds while setting the Cornell program record for single-season steals with 63. In his senior season of 2023-24, he was unanimously voted first-team All-Ivy League after averaging 12.5 points and four rebounds per game. He also led the Ivy League in steals and steal percentage, establishing himself as one of the premier defensive guards in the conference. Seeking a higher level of competition and exposure for his final season of eligibility, Mañon transferred to Vanderbilt for the 2024-25 campaign. He averaged 6.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game for the Commodores in a role that emphasized stopping opposing guards rather than generating offensive volume. After completing his collegiate eligibility, he participated in the 2025 NBA Summer League with the Golden State Warriors, where he was the team's leading scorer with 55 total points. He also led the Warriors in rebounds per game at 5.2 and blocked shots with eight over the course of the event.
