Bradley Beal

Beal is one of the most accomplished scoring guards of his generation, compiling three All-Star selections, a Three-Point Contest title, and multiple 30-point-per-game seasons over a career that began as the third overall pick in 2012. Drafted by the Washington Wizards, he spent eleven seasons as the franchises offensive centerpiece, formed one of the leagues most dynamic backcourts with John Wall, and later carried the scoring load as the primary option. Trades to Phoenix in 2023 and Miami in 2025 shifted his role from franchise cornerstone to veteran scorer on contending teams.

Born on June 28, 1993, in St. Louis, Missouri, Beal attended Chaminade College Preparatory School, where he was a McDonalds All-American and the Gatorade National Player of the Year. He committed to the University of Florida and played one season under Billy Donovan. As a freshman, he averaged 14.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors, and helped the Gators reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament. He declared for the 2012 NBA draft and was selected third overall by the Washington Wizards.

Beal made the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2013 and gradually developed into one of the leagues elite shooters and scorers. His partnership with John Wall formed one of the most explosive backcourts in the Eastern Conference, leading Washington to multiple playoff appearances. After Wall suffered injuries, Beal assumed the primary scoring role and responded with three consecutive seasons of 30 or more points per game, peaking at 31.3 in the 2020–21 season. On January 6, 2021, he scored a career-high 60 points against Philadelphia. He won the Three-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend in 2021 and earned All-NBA Third Team honors that same season.

Despite individual brilliance, Beals Wizards tenure was marked by playoff disappointment. Washington never advanced beyond the second round during his eleven seasons, and the team eventually entered a rebuild. On June 24, 2023, the Wizards traded Beal to the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster deal that sent Chris Paul and Landry Shamet to Washington. In Phoenix, Beal joined Kevin Durant and Devin Booker on a superteam constructed to win a championship. The adjustment to a tertiary role behind two other elite scorers required sacrifices in usage and shot attempts. In 2025, the Suns traded him to the Miami Heat, where he continued as a veteran scoring option.

Beal is a scoring guard with elite shooting mechanics, off-ball movement, and the ability to score from all three levels. His three-point range extends well beyond the arc, and his mid-range pull-up is one of the most reliable in the league. He attacks the rim with craft rather than brute force, using hesitation dribbles and floaters to finish in traffic. His playmaking improved during his peak Wizards years, and he became a capable pick-and-roll operator who reads traps and finds rolling bigs. Defensively, he is undersized for a two-guard but competes with effort and positioning.
