Jameer Nelson is moving into the No. 2 position in the Philadelphia 76ers' front office. The team is promoting its assistant general manager to executive vice president of basketball operations, ESPN's Shams Charania reported.
Nelson will work under new president of basketball operations Mike Gansey. He was Philadelphia's strongest internal candidate for the top role before the Sixers hired Gansey from Cleveland.
The Pennsylvania native starred at Saint Joseph's and spent 14 seasons in the NBA, earning one All-Star selection. Nelson joined the Sixers as a scout in 2020, later led their G League affiliate and became assistant GM in 2025.
Philadelphia is also keeping executive Prosper Karangwa on a multiyear contract extension.
