LeBron James' move to Philadelphia is already showing up in merchandise sales.
Fanatics announced that James' No. 23 76ers jersey became the best-selling jersey ever for any player in the first 48 hours after an announcement, according to reports from Bleacher Report and Fox Business. The mark reportedly topped the previous debut record set by Shohei Ohtani after he joined the Los Angeles Dodgers in December 2023.
That is a clean signal of the size of the James-to-Sixers moment. Philadelphia did not just add a 41-year-old star for his 24th NBA season. It added one of the few athletes who can still move national demand instantly, even after two decades in the league.
The jersey angle also fits the basketball story. James is joining a Sixers team built around Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown, with the franchise trying to turn a wild offseason into a real title push.
The sales record does not win games. It does show how quickly the city and national market bought into the new chapter.
