Celtics absorb Embiid return and take firm control of series
Boston handled Joel Embiid’s return with poise, won the key late-possession battles, and tightened its series control through cleaner half-court execution and disciplined defensive rotations.
Embiid made his presence felt. He got downhill, drew fouls, and forced the Celtics to pay attention to every touch near the paint. For a while, the game had that uncomfortable feel where one player’s return can tilt the whole series.
But Boston handled it pretty well. The Celtics did not start flying around just because Embiid was back. They helped with more control, stayed attached on the weak side, and kept making Philadelphia find a second or third answer.
The difference showed up late. Boston’s offense looked calmer when possessions tightened. Better spacing. Quicker decisions. Fewer empty dribbles while everyone waited for something to happen.
That does not mean Embiid was quiet. He clearly changed the game. He just did not change it enough.
Boston absorbed the surge, trusted its defense, and executed better when the game got tense. In the playoffs, that is usually enough.
