The Lakers' offseason has apparently landed well with Luka Doncic.
Dan Woike reported that Doncic was "excited" about Los Angeles' signings, according to league sources, because the front office addressed two of his biggest roster wishes: keeping Austin Reaves and adding an elite rim-protecting center in Walker Kessler.
The Lakers are not finished. Woike noted that the team is still looking at wings, with Jonathan Kuminga high on that list. But the early work has given Doncic a clearer version of the roster he wanted around him.
The communication piece matters here, too. Sources told Woike that the Lakers stayed in regular contact with Doncic and his team despite the guard spending his summer in Europe and a significant time gap in the process.
That does not make the roster complete. Los Angeles still has perimeter questions, and the wing search will shape how balanced the group looks around Doncic, Reaves and Kessler.
Still, the first signal is positive. The Lakers kept their secondary creator, found the center profile Doncic wanted and made sure their new franchise guard was looped into the build.
