Mike Brown Questions Game 3 Officiating After Knicks Loss

Summary

Mike Brown questioned a second-half free-throw gap of 24-8 after the Knicks lost Game 3 of the NBA Finals to the Spurs.

Mike Brown was not interested in hiding his frustration. After the Knicks lost Game 3 to San Antonio, he questioned a second half in which the Spurs took 24 free throws and New York took eight.

"I never thought I'd be in an NBA Finals and see in the second half 24 free throw attempts to another team's eight," Brown said.

San Antonio finished the night 25-of-32 from the line. New York went 18-of-22. The Knicks also scored 20 points in the fourth quarter and lost 115-111, allowing the Spurs to cut the Finals margin to 2-1.

The Spurs attacked the basket and drew contact. Brown's argument centered on the other side of the floor and whether the Knicks received the same calls.

That became the postgame debate. One view was that San Antonio earned the advantage by applying more pressure at the rim. The other was that comparable contact did not bring New York the same whistle. Brown made clear which side he was on.
