Two courtside seats for Knicks-Spurs Game 3 at Madison Square Garden sold for $550,000 in a charity auction, adding another number to the extraordinary ticket demand surrounding the NBA Finals in New York.
The package places the winning bidders in Celebrity Row, just off center court. The seats are located in section VIP 10, row AA, seats 25 and 26. New York does not normally sell them because they are generally reserved for famous fans who regularly appear courtside at Knicks games.
The auction opened Thursday, June 4 at noon and closed Sunday, June 7 at 5 p.m. ET. The final bidding window on Sunday lasted six hours, from 11 a.m. until the sale closed, before the pair reached $550,000.
All proceeds benefit the Garden of Dreams Foundation. The organization works with 30 partner groups across the tri-state area, including hospitals, wish organizations and community groups supporting young people facing homelessness, poverty, illness and foster care.
Game 3 is scheduled for Monday, June 8. It will be the first NBA Finals game played in New York since 1999.
