Summary

Misko Raznatovic confirmed that Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos made a serious attempt to bring Nikola Jokic to Athens.

The Nikola Jokic-to-Panathinaikos idea was not just noise from a club owner.

Jokic's longtime agent, Misko Raznatovic, confirmed that Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos really did try to bring the Denver Nuggets superstar to Greece. The attempt sounded almost impossible, but Raznatovic told Athletiko that Giannakopoulos' version was accurate.

"What Giannakopoulos said is true," Raznatovic said.

Giannakopoulos had said he made a serious offer to both Jokic and the Nuggets, only for the proposal to be rejected. He framed it as more than a social-media stunt, saying Panathinaikos explored whether it could make the massive move happen.

That does not make a deal realistic. Jokic remains the center of Denver's entire team build, and pulling a three-time MVP out of the NBA would be a different level of European ambition. The financial and contractual barriers are obvious before the basketball part even starts.

Still, the confirmation matters. Panathinaikos did not merely dream out loud. According to Jokic's own agent, the approach was real, adding another strange chapter to European clubs testing the limits of NBA star movement.
