Tari Eason Asks Court For Restraining Order Against Ex

Summary

Rockets forward Tari Eason has reportedly asked a court for a restraining order against an ex-girlfriend after alleging threats and property damage.

Tari Eason's offseason has moved into a legal matter.

TMZ reported that the Houston Rockets forward filed a petition on Thursday asking for a domestic violence restraining order against Marilyn Maritza Melo Rodriguez, whom Eason described in the filing as someone he used to date. The report is based on a petition TMZ says it obtained, so the details remain allegations from that filing.

Eason claims one of Rodriguez's friends called him and said she would break both of his legs and kill him. He said the alleged threats made him fear for his life. He also claimed Rodriguez struck him in the face with a closed fist after he drove her mother home.

The filing includes a property claim, too. Eason alleges Rodriguez later went to his Airbnb, poured bleach on his clothes and caused $92,000 in losses. According to TMZ, he is asking a judge to order Rodriguez to stay away from him, his home, his work, his car and any California arena where the Rockets might play.

There is no basketball ruling attached to this yet. It is a court request, not a league discipline case, and the public record is still limited to the reported petition.
