Quinten Post is leaving Golden State in one of the NBA's rarest free-agency outcomes.
The Warriors declined to match the Memphis Grizzlies' three-year, $30 million offer sheet for Post, according to multiple reports. That makes Post the first NBA player since 2020 to change teams through an unmatched restricted free agent offer sheet.
The last example was Bogdan Bogdanovic, who left Sacramento for Atlanta after the Kings declined to match a four-year, $72 million offer sheet. Those cases have become unusual because teams often match RFA deals to protect an asset, even when the contract is not perfect.
Memphis pushed the issue with a deal structure that made the decision harder for Golden State. Reports described only the first season as guaranteed, with parts of the salary tied to unlikely incentives. For a Warriors team watching its tax and roster flexibility, matching was not automatic.
Post now joins a Grizzlies team that has been reshaped by several moves. For the Warriors, the decision removes a young center from the depth chart and shows how much restricted free agency can still matter when another team is willing to tie up money and wait.
