Tyus Jones

Jones is an American guard who has established himself as one of the most reliable backup point guards in the NBA since being selected in the first round of the 2015 draft. Known for his elite assist-to-turnover ratio and steady floor generalship, he has played for multiple franchises while maintaining consistent production.

Born Tyus Robert Jones on May 10, 1996, in Burnsville, Minnesota, he attended Apple Valley High School. He was a Minnesota State High School League Class 4A state champion, three-time Minnesota Associated Press Boys Basketball Player of the Year, and three-time Minnesota Boys Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year. He played in the 2014 McDonald's All-American Boys Game, Jordan Brand Classic, and Nike Hoop Summit, winning the skills competition at the McDonald's game.

Jones committed to Duke as part of a package with Jahlil Okafor. As a freshman, he averaged 11.8 points and 5.6 assists and was named All-ACC third team and All-ACC Freshman first team. He scored 19 points and was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2015 NCAA tournament final as Duke defeated Wisconsin. He declared for the 2015 NBA draft after his freshman season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Jones 24th overall and traded him to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He spent two seasons in Minnesota before moving to the Memphis Grizzlies, where he established himself as a premier backup point guard. He later played for the Washington Wizards and signed with the Denver Nuggets.
