Caleb Martin

Martin is an American forward whose professional career began as an undrafted free agent in 2019 before he carved out a rotation role through grit, shooting, and defensive versatility. After two seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, he joined the Miami Heat and played a key role in their 2023 Finals run. He later played for Philadelphia and Dallas, bringing a reputation as a tough wing who defends multiple positions and knocks down timely shots.

Born on September 28, 1995, in Mocksville, North Carolina, Martin attended Davie County High School for three seasons before transferring to Oak Hill Academy with his identical twin brother, Cody. The twins committed to North Carolina State to play for coach Mark Gottfried. As a sophomore at NC State, Caleb averaged 11.5 points and 4.7 rebounds. After that season, the twins transferred to Nevada to play for coach Eric Musselman.

After sitting out the 2016-17 season due to NCAA transfer rules, Martin became eligible the following year. He averaged 18.9 points per game and was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Year by the league's coaches and Newcomer of the Year by both coaches and media. He shared Player of the Year honors with Boise State's Chandler Hutchison, who received the MW media version. Martin led the Wolf Pack to a regular season conference championship and a Top 25 ranking. He and Cody led Nevada to the 2018 NCAA tournament, where they advanced to the Sweet 16 after comebacks from double-digit deficits against Texas and Cincinnati. Both twins tested the 2018 NBA draft and attended the combine before returning for their senior seasons.

As a senior, Martin was named Preseason Mountain West Player of the Year. He averaged 19.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists and led Nevada to a 29-5 record. His college career ended with a first-round NCAA tournament loss to Florida. He was named First-Team All-Mountain West alongside teammate Jordan Caroline. After going undrafted in 2019, he signed with the Charlotte Hornets, where his brother Cody was a second-round pick. On October 19, the Hornets converted his contract to a two-way deal, then to a multi-year standard contract. He made his NBA debut on October 25 against Minnesota.

Martin played two seasons in Charlotte before signing with the Miami Heat. In Miami, he became a key rotation piece, starting games and contributing defensively and offensively. He helped the Heat reach the NBA Finals in 2023, where they lost to the Denver Nuggets. His defensive versatility and timely shooting made him a fixture in Erik Spoelstra's rotation. After Miami, he played for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Dallas Mavericks.

Martin is a tough, versatile wing with a solid frame, defensive intensity, and improving outside shooting.
