Ty Jerome

Jerome is an American guard who reached the NBA through the 2019 draft after a decorated three-year career at Virginia. A key member of the Cavaliers' 2019 national championship team, he has navigated multiple trades and established himself as a steady playmaking guard.

Born Ty Jeremy Jerome on July 8, 1997, he played AAU basketball for Riverside Church alongside Donovan Mitchell. He attended Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, New York, where he was named first-team All-Conference, All-Metropolitan, and All-State after his junior season. His senior season was cut short by a hip injury. He committed to Virginia on September 2, 2014.

At Virginia, Jerome averaged 4.3 points as a freshman backing up London Perrantes. He took over as starting point guard as a sophomore and scored a career-high 31 points against Boston College on December 30, 2017, earning All-ACC Third Team honors. As a junior, he averaged 13.6 points and 5.5 assists, was named a Bob Cousy Award finalist, and led Virginia to the 2019 NCAA championship with 16 points, eight assists, and six rebounds in the title game. He declared for the 2019 NBA draft.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Jerome 24th overall and traded his rights to the Boston Celtics, who then traded him to the Phoenix Suns. He signed on July 6, 2019, but sprained his right ankle before the season and had multiple assignments with the Northern Arizona Suns of the G League. He made his NBA debut on December 2, 2019. He has since played for Oklahoma City, Golden State, Cleveland, and Memphis.
