About Jordan Poole

Poole is an American guard who has built an NBA career as a scoring threat and playmaker since being drafted in the first round in 2019. He spent his first four seasons with the Golden State Warriors, winning a championship and leading the league in free throw percentage, before moving to the Washington Wizards and New Orleans Pelicans.

Born Jordan Anthony Poole on June 19, 1999, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he attended Rufus King High School before transferring to La Lumiere School in Indiana for his senior year. He was a member of the 2017 Dick's National High School Championship team alongside Jaren Jackson Jr. and Brian Bowen. He was rated a four-star recruit and committed to Michigan in October 2015, becoming the first commitment for the Class of 2017.

At Michigan, Poole was a member of the 2017-18 team that won the Big Ten tournament and advanced to the national championship game. As a sophomore, he averaged 12.8 points and was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team. He declared for the 2019 NBA draft.

The Golden State Warriors selected Poole in the first round. He received G League assignments in his first two seasons before becoming an integral part of the rotation starting in 2021. He led the NBA in free throw percentage in 2021-22 and won an NBA championship with the Warriors that same season. After four seasons, he was traded to the Washington Wizards in 2023 and later to the New Orleans Pelicans in the summer of 2025.

Poole is a score-first guard with a smooth shooting stroke, deep range, and a willingness to create off the dribble. He thrives in isolation and pick-and-roll settings, using his handle to navigate screens and pull up from mid-range and three-point range. His scoring bursts and playmaking vision have made him a valuable offensive option, though his defensive consistency remains a focus area.

Poole enters each season as a scoring guard with an NBA championship, a free throw percentage title, and multiple franchise tenures behind him. His trajectory from a Michigan freshman to a first-round pick and a championship-winning guard reflects shooting excellence and a commitment to offensive innovation at the highest level.
