Johnny Juzang

Juzang is an American guard who has played professionally for Zenit Saint Petersburg in the VTB United League after a decorated college career at Kentucky and UCLA. His path included a reclassification, a transfer motivated by homesickness, and a starring role on a Final Four team that elevated his draft stock.

Born Jonathan Anh Juzang on March 17, 2001, in Los Angeles, he is the son of a Creole father and a Vietnamese mother. He attended Harvard-Westlake School, where he averaged 16.2 points and 7.5 rebounds as a freshman and helped the program win a CIF Southern Section Division 1A championship. As a sophomore, he averaged 22.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. As a junior, he averaged 23.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists and was named Mission League MVP. He reclassified to the 2019 class and committed to Kentucky over Virginia.

At Kentucky, Juzang played behind Tyrese Maxey and Immanuel Quickley and averaged 2.9 points in limited minutes. After the season, he announced his transfer to UCLA, citing loneliness and a desire to return home during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was granted immediate eligibility.

At UCLA, Juzang missed the first four games with a foot injury before moving into the starting lineup. He scored 27 points against Stanford in January 2021 and delivered a memorable stretch of eight consecutive made shots. In the 2021 NCAA tournament, he averaged 22.8 points and led the Bruins to the Final Four, earning All-Tournament Team honors. As a junior in 2022, he was named third-team All-American and a two-time all-conference selection.

Juzang is a scoring guard with a smooth shooting stroke, size for his position, and a willingness to take on big moments. He operates off screens, relocates for catch-and-shoot opportunities, and has shown the ability to score in bunches against high-major competition. His defensive positioning and rebounding add value in a backup guard role.

Juzang enters each season as a professional guard with international experience, carrying the pedigree of a UCLA Final Four run and a third-team All-American honor.
