About Jordan Goodwin

Goodwin is an American guard who reached the NBA as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and has played for the Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns after a decorated college career at Saint Louis. His professional trajectory reflects a defensive-minded, high-energy guard who produces across multiple statistical categories.

Born on October 23, 1998, in Belleville, Illinois, Goodwin attended Althoff Catholic High School. As a junior, he averaged 19 points, nine rebounds, and 3.2 assists and led the program to a 32-2 record and a Class 3A state title. He was named Belleville News-Democrat Class 3A-4A Player of the Year. On January 24, 2017, he posted 26 points and 10 rebounds to become Althoff's all-time leading scorer, surpassing Kevin Lisch. He underwent season-ending shoulder surgery shortly after. A consensus four-star recruit, he committed to Saint Louis over Alabama, Butler, Creighton, Illinois, Missouri, and Northwestern.

At Saint Louis, Goodwin recorded the first triple-double in program history on January 13, 2018, with 13 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. He was suspended for part of his freshman season but later cleared. As a junior, he averaged 15.5 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.1 steals and was named First Team All-Atlantic 10 and Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team. He led all NCAA Division I guards in double-doubles with 15. As a senior, he averaged 14.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.0 steals and again earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 and All-Defensive honors, breaking the school record for steals.

After going undrafted in 2021, Goodwin signed with the Washington Wizards and was waived before joining the Capital City Go-Go. He later signed 10-day contracts and multi-year deals with Washington before moving to the Phoenix Suns.

Goodwin is a tenacious, all-around guard with elite rebounding for his size, defensive hustle, and playmaking vision. He scores on cuts, putbacks, and transition opportunities, and he uses his strength to guard bigger opponents and generate steals. His offensive game is not built on three-point shooting, but his rebounding and defensive energy make him a situational contributor.

Goodwin enters each season working to secure consistent NBA rotation minutes after an undrafted start and multiple G League assignments. His trajectory from a high school state champion to a record-setting college player and undrafted NBA contributor reflects persistence, defensive tenacity, and a willingness to embrace a role built on hustle and energy.
